No hope on Social Media

I have been struggling again with anxiety and fear due to the chaos in the world, I noticed that I kept going back to my social media app in the hope to find relief from what is causing my anxiety.

To my bitter disappointment I did not find hope there…

At first I did not want to write about this on my blog but rather in my private diary since I was under the impression that I was supposed to be the one that has overcome anxiety and fear, but no one is ever free of anxiety or fear it is part of being human, it is how we deal with fear that makes the difference.

So what am I anxious about? What is the cause of my fear ?

Compulsory Vaccinations.

I am not going to write about vaccinated vs non-vaccianted nor will I allow any comments or debates on this matter, the topic of this post is about; “where do I find hope during the pandemic and vaccinations”.

If my Goverment passes a Law that no customer is allowed to enter any business premises without a vaccine pass it might mean that I will loose very valuable staff who are good people with children to feed and school, it will also mean we will loose a very great number of customers. Most probably our business will shut down and my familie and I will be without income. I will not blame people since I believe it is a basic human right to be vaccinated or not.

I keept going to my social media app as if it where some kind of weather app that will preditct when the bad weather of this world will end and bring about a breeze of fresh air but all I found was more bad weather forcasted.

Social media apps are designed to show the most popular posts or news feeds first and since negative or bad news is for some reason more shared by humans it is what you will find first on social media. What is it with us humans that we rather share bad news than good news? We don’t like it yet we share it, is it the sensation? The attention? Bad news sells! I can not recall if I have ever seen a positive story on the frontpage of a news paper. Its a age old tradition that has gone online which some people use to make millions. What I am trying to say is that social media will mostly consit out of anxiety causing news.

So where do I find hope?

It is interesting that I find my self in this position during Christmas season which is the season of hope for true believers of christ who celebrate the hope that was born in a manger to the people of the world.

So how does the birth of a child in manger bring hope?…

becasue the child was no ordernary child He is the saviour for the people of this world., his name is Immanuel ” God with us”. This child made it possible for the people of this world to become children of the almighty, omnipresent, al knowing God and creator of this world that does not sleep nor slumber.

So how does being a child of God bring hope? because this world and all that is in it was created by God which means He stands outside of His creation and has total control over it and due to this authority it means that He can use all your circumstances and the circumstances of this world to the advantage of His children’s everlasting life.

“Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).
